I haven't written in quite awhile. Here is why:
I got sick on New Years Day. On New Years Eve, Tristan, Danica and I went to the club my sister works at. I was so excited for our first New Years Eve back in Kelowna, I wanted to ring in the new year in style. I bought a new dress, wore my favorite heels, spent extra time primping (anything over 15 minutes is extra in my books) .. and it was an awesome night. We danced, I got a kiss from my lovely man at midnight, and we ended the night with pizza at Dunn Enzies. The next day, I had the worst hangover of my life. Except .. I only had two drinks. How is that possible? I just assumed that because I never drink I was a super light weight the night before. We went to Sue's for a New Years Day turkey dinner, and I just kept feeling sicker throughout the night. I tried to hide it, but Tristan knew something was up. By the time we got home, I had the shivers and I was feeling very flushed. Still pretending it was just a hangover so as to not worry him, we cuddled down on the couch to watch a movie (Role Models). I was FREEZING at this point. I casually asked Tristan to grab more blankets, and by the end of the movie I was rolled in them wrap-style, with the heat blasting, becoming delerious. Tristan was slightly alarmed at this point, so he reached over to feel my forehead. It hurt. My skin felt sunburnt. He started freaking out that I was burning up, and put me in bed. He rubbed me down with a cold cloth (I was starting to hate him by the end of it - as I said, I felt like I was FREEZING, and he was making me colder) and stayed up all that night, ready to take me to the hospital if I showed any sign of worsening. Now that's an amazing boyfriend. Turns out, I had the worst flu of my life. Thanks, short dress.
Fast forward through being sick for two weeks. On the14th I was feeling much better, so I went with Tristan to a local pub to watch his best friend's band play a show. I had a beer, and then .. I started feeling funny again. My throat has been swelling up for the past two days, and it seems to be worsening. The last time this happened, I had strep throat. Thanks, beer.
Did I mention I started my new job two days after I had the fever? And have not called in sick even ONCE? That's dedication.
So. The moral of the story is: If it's cold where you live, it doesn't matter if it's New Years Eve. PUT ON CLOTHES.
